Introduction

I've been crocheting for about 10 years now. I first got introduced to it by my mom in my early teens, but i absolutely hated it. I just couldn't get it down. Either the stitches were too tight or they were too loose. Let me be frank, i sucked! So i stopped and completely forgot about this beautiful craft. But then, i picked it up again in my late teens/early twenties and i absolutely fell in love with it!

Crocheting has gotten me through some pretty tough times and dare i say, i kind of got addicted? It became my coping mechanism, my escape and a way of relieving stress. I've always been a creative person i could say, always loved to draw or sculpt, not that i was any good at it, but i loved it. When i discovered that crocheting isn't just pretty doilies, hats and scarfs, i absolutely went nuts!

So, i started to research and learn all the different kinds of techniques and tricks. I've been crocheting flowers for a long time and then i discovered a beautiful art of crochet art dolls. Those are not the dolls you'd give to your kid to play with, chew on and smash it all around the place. They're dolls you put on your shelf and admire their beauty and craftsmanship, a one of a kind art doll. They were so enchanting and they just pulled me in. So i started looking and searching all around this web we call the internet, for all sorts of patterns, but i never seemed to find that one that i would absolutely love. So, i decided to design my own!

I had the knowledge and the skill to do so, so why not do it? And here's where the true passion was born. Designing, ''sculpting'' with the thread, the process to create something beautiful, from nothing. I love everything about it. From start to finish! It was hard at first, since i didn't really know what i was doing. And let me tell you, there was a lot of crocheting and undoing the stitches and pulling my hair out because the stitches didn't line up correctly or the shape was all disfigured and weird. But at the end i finally came up with something i was happy with! I'm not saying that it is the best, but we all can leave some space in our craft to keep on learning, growing and improving our skills! So, i put together my interest in fantasy, mythology and horror and combined it with crocheting!

And what am i planning to post here you might ask? Well, thank you for asking! Let me tell you!

I decided to document my projects here, sharing the process from start to finish. There's  a lot of work and time that goes into one piece, so i'm mainly doing this for myself, but why not share it with the world and maybe inspire someone along the way, or show the new coming ''hookers'', that there is so much more to the crochet and so much more potential in this beautiful craft than some may think!

So, if you are interested in such things as crochet or fiber arts, well then this blog may just be for you!

Okay, now let me stop rambling and let's finish this off. Thank you, if you read until the end and i wish you all a lot of crocheting fun and creativity!

But before i leave, let me just share some pictures of finished projects, so that you may know what to expect from me in the future! You can also come check my Instagram if you'd like, @ crochet_by_claudia for more doll projects, that are not featured in this post!
